About shungite

Shungite – a healing stone of health and longevity

A little history...

Shungite is a mineral that is notable for the fact that it contains almost all the elements of D.I. Mendeleev’s periodic table. The main element in its composition is carbon, and the carbon lattice makes up 30-40% of the volume of shungite.

The mineral shungite received its current name in 1887 after the name of the village of Shunga, which is located on the shores of Lake Onega, where it was first discovered and where the adit in which shungite was mined operated for a long time. It is here that black mineral shales emerge on the earth’s surface, which in Rus', starting from the 16th century, were given healing properties. In those days, our ancestors called shungite “slate stone.”

The first mentions of shungite (“slate stone”) date back to the 16th century and are associated with the name of Princess Aksinya (Xenia in modern sources). The princess was barren. Having been tonsured a monk by order of Tsar Boris Godunov and sent to the Tolvui Monastery, Ksenia was cured of her illness there and gave birth to the future Russian Tsar Mikhail Romanov - the first of the Romanov dynasty, who ruled Russia for 300 years. The healing spring located here was named “Tsarevnin”. For many centuries, local residents have been using shungite and water from the source to treat and prevent many diseases. The healing properties of both shungite itself and the water flowing where deposits of the shungite mineral are discovered are well known outside the region.

In particular, Russian Emperor Peter I was well informed about the healing properties inherent in shungite. By his decree, he ordered the foundation of the first resort in Russia in Karelia - “Marcial Waters”, which exists to this day. This happened immediately after the discovery of healing springs near the Olonets factories, similar in properties to the springs at the Tolvui Monastery. The Marcial Waters resort is located on a thick layer of shungite. The healing properties of local water are explained by the process of long-term natural filtration, which it undergoes while moving through this layer in the earth's thickness. Perhaps our Karelian springs were the prototype of living water from Russian folk tales? During military campaigns, “slate stone” was used to disinfect water from local sources, and at Olonets factories, shungite was widely used to treat workers from various ailments.

Nowadays, the only deposit in the world where industrial mining of the shungite mineral is carried out is the Zazhoginskoye deposit in the Medvezhyegorsk region of the Republic of Karelia, which is located near the village of Tolvui on the Zaonezhsky Peninsula. In most cases, all the items that you see on sale (decorations, stickers for mobile phones, shungite chips used in water purification filters, pyramids, balls and much, much more) are made from the shungite mineral mined and processed at the Zazhoginsky deposit.

Of course, scientists have also studied shungite. Laboratory studies conducted using modern equipment have already confirmed the healing properties of shungite.

Fullerenes: living particles

As it turned out not so long ago (in the 90s of the last century), the mineral shungite contains fullerenes. This discovery belongs to a group of American-British scientists who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for it in 1985. Their names: Robert Curl, Harold Kroteau and Richard Smalley. Many of the world's leading scientific centers, through their own research, have confirmed the connection between the unique healing properties of the shungite mineral and the presence of fullerenes in its composition.

Fullerenes are not a medicinal drug in our traditional understanding of this phrase. Fullerenes are rather a universal broad-spectrum remedy that does not target a specific disease and does not act locally, but affects the entire system of a living organism at once at the cellular level. By the nature of their effects, the fullerenes contained in shungite are similar to immunomodulators and broad-spectrum adaptogens.

Today, the effectiveness of the use of shungite and shungite waters is recognized even by official medicine - it is simply impossible not to notice the effect of its use.

The healing properties of fullerenes: a little science

Every cell of the human body necessarily contains antioxidants - substances that prevent the “oxidation” of the body. In fact, the aging process of a person is a process of “oxidation” of the cells of his body. Every time we breathe in another portion of air, we grow old. The presence of a sufficient amount of antioxidants in the body's cells prevents premature aging of cells and allows us to stay young and healthy longer.

In turn, a lack of antioxidants in cells will inevitably lead to premature aging, early disability and periodic disruptions in the functioning of the most important internal organs and systems of the human body.

The most powerful antioxidants known to science today are fullerenes, which contain the mineral shungite and water purified by shungite. It turns out that shungite can delay old age!

Fullerenes have another extremely valuable biological property - they are an excellent antitoxin. And here it must be added that the list of poisons and toxins neutralized by fullerenes is huge.

Scientists have repeatedly stated that the main method of increasing human life expectancy today is to saturate the body's cells with antioxidants and increase their percentage. The average human lifespan of about 100 years can be achieved by improving technologies based on the wonderful properties of fullerenes. It would be reasonable to use shungiti derivatives for this purpose.

In addition to the above, it should be noted that fullerenes enhance the activity of enzymes, increase the resistance of cells to the adverse effects of the external environment, stabilize metabolism and improve the properties of body tissues associated with their regeneration.

Fullerenes have a beneficial effect on the body's resistance to stress and normalize the functioning of the nervous system. Fullerenes have a pronounced anti-inflammatory and antihistamine effect. Thanks to this, fullerenes relieve pain and a huge number of allergies, significantly improve immunity, and create a favorable background for the treatment of cancer.

And more about the healing properties of shungite

Let's talk about what diseases can be successfully treated with the use of shungite and products based on it. The range of these diseases is wide and we will try to briefly cover most of them.

Shungite purified water is successfully used in the treatment of all kinds of skin diseases. Moreover, both water directly from medicinal sources and water prepared specially for this purpose artificially are used. In both cases, the result exceeds all expectations. Shungite pastes, infusions, ointments and preparations are used to renew and accelerate the regeneration of skin cells, as well as to stimulate blood circulation.

Shungite is used to produce a number of building materials with electrically conductive, radio-reflective and radio-absorbing properties. Radio-reflective building materials made from shungite have proven themselves to be excellent at industrial facilities, where special attention is paid to the protection of electronic information. This is evidenced by the results of full-scale tests. They have proven themselves to be environmentally friendly, more durable, more reliable and safe than similar metal screens.

Shungite perfectly protects the human body from the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation. In buildings protected using shungite-based building materials, the level of exposure of the human body to both natural and artificial radiation sources is hundreds of times lower.

Even if you simply place a shungite product in close proximity to the radiation source, this will significantly weaken its power. This is the basis for the action of shungite pyramids that protect computer monitors from radiation and special protective stickers made of shungite that are glued to a mobile phone.

Shungite is also widely used in the following areas of the national economy:

  • drinking water filtration;

  • cleaning sewer and other wastewater;

  • production of radioprotective building materials and devices;

  • in agriculture and livestock farming (production of environmentally friendly fertilizers and high-quality feed);

  • medicine (preparations based on shungite, ointments, infusion pastes, etc.);

  • in alternative medicine (treatment and rehabilitation centers of shungite therapy);

  • and many, many others.

Shungite is a unique mineral that has found wide application in various sectors of economic activity in our country and abroad.
